I am here to help you think through the leadership challenges you face and the organizational changes that you need to make to keep your company at the highest level of performance. This is not coaching, which is a professional development experience, but rather an experienced, confidential sounding board  to help you think through strategy, implementation, effectiveness, and measurement of success. 

I have more than 30 years of experience advising senior executives in some of the most technically challenging organizations—including the NASA and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission.  My primary areas of expertise include: culture and engagement strategy, policy development, workforce planning, learning and development, and business operations.

Human Capital Executive Leadership 

National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), Chief Human Capital Officer, August 2011 – July 2015: I worked with NASA senior leaders and employees at all levels to create a workforce culture where all employees could thrive.  I managed all human capital aspects of the largest, pre-eminent scientific and exploration organization in the world (18K employees, 45K contractors, $18B budget).  I served as the chief people advisor to the NASA Administrator. 

 

Engagement and Strategy 

White House Office of Science Technology Policy (OSTP), Co-Chair, Fast Track Action Committee on Workforce, January 2015 – July 2015.  I worked with senior scientists and HR professionals from the science and technology agencies of the Federal government to assess barriers and identify opportunities to enhance both the quality and flow of the Federal science and technology workforce. 

 

National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), Chief Human Capital Officer, August 2011 – August 2015 & Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), September 2009 – August 2011:  In partnership with the most senior leaders in these  organizations, led the effort to develop and execute employee engagement and culture strategies.
